Meet the Principal

                                                              Super Senator Day 2019

“It’s a Great Day to be a Senator!”  It is evident that our Senator community consists of a vibrant culture of caring, hardworking, and spirited staff, students, and parents.  I am thrilled to be working with a faculty who embraces the wonderful diversity of Kent County Secondary ILC — a faculty who works hard to prepare students for both their transition to high school and the challenges of the 21st century.

My educational career began in 1996 as a teacher at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia.  For twenty years, I served within Fairfax County as a teacher, coach, student government sponsor, assessment coach, middle school assistant principal, and assistant principal at Lake Braddock Secondary School.   The last three serves I have served as the assistant principal at Lake Forest High School in Delaware.  My top priority is working closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a positive learning experience and academic success for each student.   All children can learn and be successful. The rest of my philosophy stems from this simple, yet powerful statement. To educate a child effectively requires a tremendous amount of collaboration and effort among the child, family, school, and community.  It is my desire all children grow academically, morally, and socially by providing a learning community that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.  Additionally, I encourage all students to seek challenges beyond the classroom.  Whether it’s on the athletic field, on stage, or in a club, the lessons learned in these venues are equally as important to those learned in the classroom.  Together, these lessons, will prepare a child to be college and career ready after graduation.

Personally, I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. I am a graduate of William Byrd High School, Virginia Tech, and George Mason University. My wife Carrie is a graduate of Lake Forest High School, Shepherd University, and Wilmington University. We have two girls, Avery (12-6th grade) and Lucy (8- 2nd grade) who keep us busy. We are a family of educators; Carrie is an elementary teacher at Lorewood Grove Elementary in Middletown, DE.  We reside in Middletown, DE.  I’m an avid sports fan who closely follows the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, and Virginia Tech. I enjoy cycling, running, collecting sports memorabilia, and vacationing with my family in Hilton Head, SC.

I am looking forward in continuing to work closely with our learning community to showcase why it is great to be a member of “Senator Nation!”

Onward!
